WW II Film Doc ‘Unsurrendered 2’ Showing at Philippine Center Today

For the Filipino American History Month, free movie on the stories of war veterans’ heroism

New York – Watch Unsurrendered 2, a WW ll documentary, today October 12 at 6 PM at the Kalayaan Halll of the Philippine Center on 5th Avenue.

Spyron•AV Manila, through the sponsorship ofPhilippine Veterans Bank, Philippine Airlines, PAGCOR, NORCAL, RPDEV, and PVAO, relaunched this film and book titled Unsurrendered 2: The Hunters ROTC Guerrillas and held a gala premiere on October 4, 2018 at the Philippine Chancery in Wash., DC.

Today, the Philippine Consulate, the National Federation of FilAm Associations of America, OSM! online magazine, and the Ilocano-American Association Inc. bring it to New York.

“U-2” uncovers the story of young and brave Filipinos during World War II. PMA and ROTC college students, who were bumped off from the transport trucks bound for the frontlines of Bataan, blatantly organized one of the earliest guerrilla resistance groups in the Philippines, stole firearms from under the noses of the Japanese, and put the fate of the country into their own hands. The band of brothers became known as the Hunters ROTC Guerrillas.

The compelling 285-page coffee-table book is a collection of articles recounting untold stories and perspectives of World War II events, supported by rare and powerful photographs, and situates the story of the Hunters ROTC in Philippine history. Told in the words of the Hunters themselves, as well as by respected historians, this book is the perfect complement to the World War II documentary epic of the same name, also produced by Spyron•AV Manila.
During the gala screening, the Philippine Ambassador, The Honorable Manuel G. Romualdez, thru the DCM Chuasoto endorsed the film and book to all Filipinos living in the United States, the WWII veterans and their families, and history students.

Executive producer and publisher, Lucky Guillermo, introduced the 52-minute movie and encouraged support for the 2nd International Film Festival 2018 in Southern California New York City and Honolulu, Hawaii, to take place in October as  the revered month for the Filipino American History Month.

The young Bani Logrono, a multi-awarded film maker, directed the movie and noted that “in a world where responsibility and courage are needed more than ever before, Unsurrendered 2 challenges the youth of today to rise to the occasion, as did our WWII heroes.”

Contributing Authors are Dr. Ricardo T. Jose, Dr. Augusto V. De Viana, Professors Bernard LM Karganilla and Xiao Chua, Peter C. Parsons; the Hunters themselves – Col. Emmanuel V De Ocampo, Supremo Col. Frisco San Juan Jr., Proculo Mojica, Salome Calderon, Gustavo Ingles, Vic Novales, Eleuterio Adevoso, Fr. James B. Reuter, SJ; and Hunters scions Jerry Adevoso, Rhett Daza, Marietess Mauricio Brittinger, and Bani Logrono.
