WICCAFE: Multiculturalism, not racism for Americans

The American Immigration Story Part 6 (of 6)

Today is America’s tipping point and social threshold as a result of the enactment of the 1965 Hart Cellar Immigration Act which allowed entry of non-white immigrants from Asia, Africa, and Latin America. While it has reason to acknowledge and celebrate its diversity, it is also reeling from institutional racism. WICCAFE is pushing forward the idea of multiculturalism as opposed to racism for America to truly find its soul. Full video here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7L-hr24zIWU

Pres. Lyndon Johnson signs the Hart Cellar Act which opened the US to Asian and Latino immigrants in order to provide labor to the growing American economy. The cold war between US and Russia was also a reason why European migration was lessened.

This is a presentation of the Women’s Immigration and Communications Cafe, a nonprofit organization organized by Marivir R. Montebon in completion of her MA in Religious Studies in 2019 at the Unification Theological Seminary in Manhattan.
