New York City – As the 45th President of the United States, Donald J. Trump is sworn into office today, OSM! features the expressed expectations of respected community leaders all over the US.
Cherry M. Smyth
Connecticut entreprenuer, president and founder of KIDS PHILIPPINES INC. www.kidsphilippines.org

Smyth: I am hoping too that President Trump may be fairer to those who are attempting to immigrate to the US legally such as numerous Filipinos.
“I believe President Donald Trump will ease the regulations for small business owners to start or continue with their small business endeavors. From an entrepreneurial point of view, Donald Trump’s mindset is totally different from ordinary people and politicians. He has been a visionary man and business tycoon all his life. I am hoping he can manage the transition between business and government with good results for our country. He will be a unique President for sure.
I am hoping too that President Trump may be fairer to those who are attempting to immigrate to the US legally such as numerous Filipinos. The process now is tedious because the time it takes to immigrate legally sometimes takes up to ten years or more. Also, President Trump’s economic policies may result in more better paying jobs in the US instead of manufacturing jobs overseas. President Trump was duly elected by the voters and deserves our respect and a chance to make America even greater than we already are.”
Dr. Pol Tiongson
California aesthetics doctor, medical director of SouthMain Rejuvenation Institute

Tiongson: If after four years, there’s less innocents killed in wars and the economic lot of the majority has improved, then we can say he has done so much better than Obama.
“The main contradiction among the powers-that-be is not Democrats against Republicans or left versus right but between those who want to sacrifice the empire for the sake of the US, those who want to sacrifice the US for the sake of the empire. Trump, by the look of things, wants to sacrifice the empire for the sake of the US because we can’t have our cake and eat it too. If after four years, there’s less innocents killed in wars and the economic lot of the majority has improved, then we can say he has done so much better than Obama–for the world and the Americans. He’s not presidential-acting but leading is not about acting but getting your hands dirty. I voted Sanders, by the way.”
Jessica Robinson
New York cyberspace security expert, CEO of Purepoint Inc.

Robinson: I expect he will lead with his strength and create more jobs but I expect he will not be thoughtful in his comments to the media or inclusive of women, religious minorities or those that advocate a different point of view from him.
“For a Trump presidency, I expect he will lead with his strength and create more jobs of America which would be wonderful. I also expect will be consistent and will continue to be divisive in his words and actions. I expect Trump will not be thoughtful in his comments to the media or inclusive of women, religious minorities or those that advocate a different point of view from him.
With that, my hope is that America, the citizens of this great country, will think critically, and challenge thoughtfully regarding his policies and actions. That we will be inclusive where he isn’t, ask thoughtful questions where he doesn’t and provide thoughtful perspectives to new or revised polices where he doesn’t provide any.
My sincere hope is that international relationships are not permanently damaged, and our reputation as a nation is not tarnished and that our national security doesn’t become weaker as a result of this presidency.”
Consuelo Almonte
New York president of a senior citizen organization Philippine Community Center Services for the Aging

Almonte: A breath of fresh air from the decades of nothingness.
“(Trump is) a breath of fresh air from the decades of nothingness except compromising our national security which Pres. Obama and Hillary carried out. Obama had already planted the seed of divisiveness in his agenda…and will go its course. Trump should be a breath of fresh air and I will hold him accountable. Meanwhile, I will support him and respect the office he holds. I ask those losers to grow up and should work out for the betterment of change for the good of the country….not for Trump.”
Mona Lunot Kuker
New York artist and babysitter

I expect for Mr. Trump to stop stirring hate against women, people of color, especially undocumented immigrants and the LBGT and instead, focus on improving the economy.
“I expect for Mr. Trump to stop stirring hate against women, people of colors, especially undocumented immigrants and the LBGT. But instead, focus on improving the economy, pass a comprehensive immigration reform, and improve US foreign policy. Americans and the rest of the world should not feel anxious and threatened by the new leader of the most powerful country on earth. We all see from history that people always rose to fight back against fascist dictatorships, and victory comes invariably.”
Vivian Talambiras Cruz
New York civic leader, formerly worked at the International Atomic Energy Agency

Talambiras-Cruz: Just give this man a chance to prove himself.
“I just posted a prayer for the inauguration last night, a powerful one. I am just hoping that people for or against Trump move together in one direction beginning tomorrow and just give this man a chance to prove himself and pray as one people that he succeeds. That’s all.”
