New York – The Handang Tumulong Foundation Inc. is hosting its 12th Annual 5k Run/Walk event from July 16 to October 2, 2021. In view of the continuing COVID-19 concerns, the race will remain a virtual run, where participants could run in the safety of their own homes or any accessible outdoor environment.
Completion is based on an honor system and all registrants should track and submit their own time using fitness apps on activity tracker devices. Anyone can submit their best running times as long as the 5K/3.1 Mile Run is completed between now and October 2, 2021.
HTFI was founded in 2010 with the main goal of establishing “ready funds” to help victims of natural calamities or disasters in the Philippines in particular, and certain worldwide occurrences as well. It assumes a proactive role in raising funds all year long to provide financial relief expeditiously to where it is needed.
As a non-profit and tax-exempt entity, it has provided approximately $250,000 to various charities and organizations since its inception. Its current set of officers are Dr. Winston Umali (President), Alex Esteban (VP, Internal Affairs), Ave Pimo (VP, Community Relations), Bel Molina (Secretary), Carmen Flores (Treasurer), Liza Galon (Auditor), Dr. Dennis Bernardo (PRO), Troi Santos (Technology Officer). The 12th Annual Running Event was launched on July 16, 2021 and will end at 11:59 pm on October 2, 2021.
Registration is open only to US-based participants for a $30 fee, and all registrants shall receive a race bib, finisher shirt and medal as well as certificates of completion for finishers. Male and female age-group winners will also receive a special digital certificate.
