OSM! Forum: What are you most grateful for this year?
A Thanksgiving Tribute to my Mommy-Lola
Many people spend their entire lives wondering what their purpose is, whether or not they have a more considerable task, something greater than themselves. But Mom, you don’t have to wonder; you never had to. I believe that you know the answer every time you look at your children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. You’ve helped all of us reach our fullest potentials.
You were put on this earth to help propel us even in little endeavors. People who have to handle the things that you do are inspired by your example to try their hardest. Your travails rouse positive change. You are just inspirational. Thank you for being the queen of my domain, that is, the organic duration for cultivating character that prepares and sets me for eternity. You’ve indeed lurched your scepter more cogent than that of kings.
Last but not the least, thank you for being my keeper most of my life. You may have not physically carried me in your womb for nine months… You may have not endured the pangs of childbirth for me… But, I am quite certain in that, I came from your heart. And no form of genealogy can ever convince me otherwise, because I’ve always known you to be “my Mommy”, and every beat of my heart says so, too. This Thanksgiving, I thank God for you. I love you, Mommy!

So many reasons to be thankful for not just at this time of the year but every minute of the day. I am thankful for all the good and bad that crossed my path this year, for family, new acquaintances and friends. I am thankful for my children, who even though they are not with me, they keep me strong and going every single day, they are my inspiration, i love them to bits and wish to be with them soon.. Mostly, thankful for Him who doesn’t cease to amaze me.

My heart is overflowing with gratefulness and joy for the love bestowed by the Almighty God and by the people who made 2015 a marvelous year for I am Pinoy Proud Ako TV Magazine Show. It is a blessing and a privilege to be welcomed by Filipino-Americans into their homes through the QPTV channel in Queens. As a writer and a host of this awe-inspiring Filipino show in New York, I am overwhelmed with the kind of patronage and support provided by Filipino TV viewers here and abroad through our Youtube and Facebook account. It is also worthy to mention that since we started the show in May 2015, we were able to showcase at least forty incredible stories of hopes and dreams, trials and triumph of ordinary individuals and organizations who take the challenge to become extra-ordinary.
I am Pinoy Proud Ako cannot thank them enough for trusting us their inspiring stories, most of which were first time to be made public. We want you to know that your confidence in IAPPA gives us the strength and honor to promote Filipino heritage and pride in this part of the world. Personally, my shout-out to the most professional and creative members of IAPPA team who do multitasking but never complaining.

There is a lot of great deal to be thankful for in 2015. As for me, as America is about opportunities but more than economic sense, I am grateful for my recent election as the President for JCI Philippine-New York for 2016. It means so much to me as a leader, giving me an opportunity to lead a unique group of leaders who wanted to make an impact to the Filipino-American Community. The same group of leaders whose genuine intentions are to make significant difference and influence change through our activities. It is in this way we contribute to nation building.

I am truly, deeply and most sincerely grateful for this blessed year 2015 because I won two acting awards from different film festivals. First, at the Nabunturan Independent Film Exhibition led by NabiFILMex Festival Director Atty. Karen Santiago-Malaki of Nabunturan, Compostela Valley, I won my very first national Best Actor award last September 19th. Second, at the International Film Festival Manhattan New York City 2015 in New York led by the IFFM NYC Festival Director & Founder Luis Pedron. I won International Best Actor for Short Film last October 22nd.
I am proud that my alma mater, the Saint Columban College (SCC) Pagadian Alumni Association through the help of my SCC High School Batch 1991, gave me the honor and recognition during the founding anniversary of our school as silver jubilarian. What a sweet homecoming.
I am so blessed to have my JULIE (https://www.viddsee.com/video/julie/hcvgy) family directed by Clanch Dayve Belleza with Maria Presa Aparis who played as my sister in the film as well as to Michael Banaynal as my son and Norwin Macalua as my love interest. Thank you, Melde Montanez, our director of photography and Mark of Andre Yapching, our assistant director.

I am most grateful for my parents this year. Not only have they raised me to become a young woman, I realized after becoming 18 this year, they have guided me into doing good things. To my mother, who has been supporting my singing career and believed in my talent at a very young age, thank you so much Nanay. To my Dad, who always finds the time to tell me jokes and drives me everywhere I want to go, thank you so much.
Now that I can drive and pay for my own bills, my parents will never stop to be my unending guide about my life and I thank the Lord everyday that I have parents that I can look up to and be my inspiration whenever I sing.
