New York – Ormoc City Mayor Richard Gomez will be among the guests of the Kapihan sa New York themed “Fiesta Filipinas” on Thursday, April 29, 2021 at 8PM EST, 8AM Mla. Time, and 5PM PST.
Gomez is the local chief executive of Ormoc in Leyte from 2016 to the present. Joining him are Mayor Isko Moreno of Manila and Mayor Francis Zamora of San Juan. They will discuss the unique fiesta traditions of and business opportunities in their localities during the Kapihan sa New York which is a co-sponsorship of the FilAm Press Club of New York, Orientours, PAL, and the Department of Tourism New York.
Ormoc is known for its pineapple festival or Pina Festival celebrated in June. Manila has several festivals – including La Loma Lechon, Lantern Festival, and the Basaan festival in honor of the baptismal tradition of the Catholic religion. How these will be celebrated in the time of the pandemic will be included at the Kapihan conversation.
Before embarking on a public service career, Gomez was an actor, TV host, and commercial director. He has won eleven (11) acting awards given by award-giving bodies both on television and film/cinema such as the Film Academy of the Philippines, FAMAS, Gawad Urian Awards, PMPC Star Awards, among others.
Gomez is husband to Congresswoman Lucy Torres and a loving father to their daughter Juliana.
Manila Mayor Francisco Moreno Domagoso (born October 24, 1974), was also an actor known by his screen name Isko Moreno or Yorme. He is the 22nd mayor of Manila since 2019.
Mayor Moreno took a crash course in Local Legislation and Local Finance at University of the Philippines Diliman and studied public administration in Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (University of the City of Manila). He also attended short courses in leadership and governance at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, and at the Said Business School, University of Oxford.

Mayor Francisco Javier “Francis” Manlapit Zamora was formerly a businessman and basketball player. He is the incumbent mayor of San Juan and has served for two terms as its vice mayor from 2010 to 2016.
Zamora graduated from De La Salle University with a degree in Bachelor of Arts, Major in Psychology in 1999. He also completed a program for Business Management and Entrepreneurship from New York University, New York, U.S.A. in 2003. He earned his Masters Degree for Public Administration from National College of Public Administration and Governance at the University of the Philippines, Diliman in 2006. He then finished an Executive Education Program at the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University, Cambridge, U.S.A. in 2015.#
