New York City – Singer comedian Betong Sumaya had clearly energized and clinched GMA’s Sikat Ka Kapuso concert up with his superb singing and dancing prowess, putting Filipinos in the East Coast on their fan-mode best at the Newark Symphony Hall in New Jersey.
Drama greats Dingdong Dantes, Alden Richards, Dennis Trillo, Lovie Poe, and Jennilyn Mercado thrilled their fans all throughout the two-hour show on the Saturday night of April 7, 2018. The fierce and funny dance showdown between Sumaya and heart-throb Richards became Sumaya’s defining moment as the undisputed performer that night.

The concert got an approving mark by the audience with the careful selection of songs that resonated with diasporic Filipinos here, decently hilarious punch lines (at times faltering into Filipino ‘cheesiness’), and appealing choreography.

Singer actress Poe stood out in the show as, in the words of Philippine Star reporter Felix Manuel, she was sophisticated and sensational.
The daughter of Philippine cinema king, the late Fernando Poe Jr., Poe had said during a press conference at the Philippine Center on 5th Avenue that she has not really spent much time with her father, but is proud of his legacy in the industry.
Poe Jr. was a celebrated action and dramatic actor, producer, and director. In 2004, he lost in a presidential election to Gloria Macapagal Arroyo and on the same year, he passed away due to a massive stroke.
“Everyone treats me kindly in the industry, because my father had been a very good man to them. And for that I am a proud daughter,” said Poe during the press conference.
