
New York – On Friday, October 23, (8:30PM EST and 5:30PM PST), join the Philippine International Network for Advocacy and Solidarity (PINAS) in celebrating Filipino-American History Month. This year’s celebration is dubbed PARANGAL, a Filipino word for “to honor.”

Speakers will include Prof. Noel Pangilinan, Philippine Studies Professor at the College of Mount Saint Vincent in New York, who will lead us in recalling the Filipino migration to the U.S.A. at the turn of the century.
Ms. Zenei Cortez, President of National Nurses United, will speak on the Filipino nurses’ saga and Valerie Francisco-Menchavez, Ph.D., Associate Professor at the Department of Sociology and Sexuality Studies at San Francisco State University, will talk about migrant mothers and caregivers and the families they left behind.
Marivir Montebon, executive editor for OSM! Online Magazine and former president of the FilAm Press Club of New York, will host the event. FilAm Press Club president Don Tagala will moderate the open forum. #
