FilAms Say VP Debate More Civil, But Won’t Change a Voter’s Choice

Editor’s Note: On October 7, 2020, the Vice Presidential Debate between Vice President Pence and Sen. Kamala Harris took place at the University of Utah with moderator Susan Page. Here are some comments by FilAm leaders.

“Harris delivered the most memorable statement — “The American people witnessed what is the greatest failure of any presidential administration in the history of our country.” Pence interrupted Harris several times and went over time (a few times Harris as well). We need a mute button. Pence also denied the existence of systemic racism, refused to address the administration’s shortcomings in handling of COVID-19, climate change and affordable health care. The personal attacks delivered by Pence put Harris on the defensive. Both were guilty of evading some questions raised during the debate. Overall, I don’t see this debate changing any voter’s perspective.” Licelle Cobrador, Esq. Sunnyside, NY

“The debate was more civil and I have the tranquility to listen to their opposing policies. I think Sen. Kamala Harris gave conflicting facts on their policies and refuse to answer her stand on some issues. But VP Biden was really hit hard on the question of super spreader to COVID-19.” Emiljun Rapada, Elizabeth, NJ

“It’s funny to watch someone who’s sweating to defend their indefensible record. That’s how Pence came across. Harris made sure she didn’t skip a beat in exposing the obvious.” Oscar Ibrahim, Charleston, WV
