New York – With the Big Apple as its biggest market for tourism in the US, the government of the Dominican Republic is rolling its sleeves to entice tourists into its shores with an assurance of an efficient vaccination program for its industry workers and citizens.
At the DR Tourism Roadshow on August 31, 2021 at Chelsea Piers’ The Lighthouse, Tourism minister David Collado assured New York guests that his country’s industry workforce is 100% vaccinated. It also boasts of its status as a UN WTO-recognized as a ‘safe tourist destination.’
About 200 guests from the tourism industry of NYC and the media attended the event. Chicago and Miami are the second and third US cities that provide high tourist arrivals for DR.
The Caribbean nation brands itself with the call ‘Dominican Republic has it all’ to entice tourists with its wealth of natural resources, local and colonial culture, as well as modern amenities.
Places to visit should be Puerto Plata, La Romana, Samana, Punta Cana, and its capital Santo Domingo, the first city of America.
The DR is 3 hours and 45 minutes by plane from NYC. It lies on the island of Hispaniola which it shares with the Republic of Haiti on the west.
Philippine guest Joebert Opulencia of Orientours said the roadshow was awesome. “The Dominican Republic is so cool. I couldn’t wait to visit it again. Hopefully in the winter.”#
