I gained weight every month since NYC enforced a lockdown as a self-preservation measure against the coronavirus pandemic. For the past 17 months, I accumulated about 123 lbs. Wahhhh!
With my short stature, that was worrying. My friends tried to console me by saying ‘I am fatter than you’. But nah, that didn’t help me feel better. My BMI said I was not obese, but geesh, I knew I was definitely going there if I didn’t stop eating bad.
The big message for self care during the pandemic meant that I must reduce weight, aside from being safe from the coronavirus and other illnesses.
Back in the day, I knew that keeping an appropriate weight meant living a healthy life. Good healthy food, enough sleep, exercise, plenty of water, and surrounding yourself with stress-free people should be in our lifestyle checklist.
But it is true what they say: real change is difficult because it starts with you having to change your lifestyle, whether it is being disorganized, being addicted to bad food or alcohol, being in a toxic workplace, etc.
The true revolution is a change of personal consciousness before old habits are unlearned.

Ms. Nieva Quezon Burdick, or tita Nieva, was one friend who relentlessly encouraged me to take C9, a Forever Living product which she endorsed to those who wanted to lose weight.
When I reached 123 lbs. I said okay, time to discipline myself. I ordered C9 from tita Nieva who also prepped me on what to do before getting into the nine-day cleanse or detox period.
To be able to reach my goal of changing my palate and eating habits, I had to mentally prepare myself for it before I calendared my regimen. I made sure I did not put any pigging-out lunches and dinners with my friends.
Suddenly, I became conscious of counting calories. I should not take in more than 500 cal a day! I love this new kind of discipline in me. And I loved the salads that I made for myself.
I enjoyed the Forever Lite Ultra in the C9 package. It was the one thing that made me survive the whole nine yards of the regimen. The Garcinia however was responsible for cutting my craving for sweets and carbs.
Detoxification is a key to weight loss, alongside a disciplined attitude to cut on carbs and sugar, having regular exercise and a good coach, and adequate hydration.
After nine days, I lost six pounds. From 123 down to 117 lbs. Deep inside me, I was grinning over my little achievement and ever excited to continue to put my weight further down. I made it!
C9 was effective and I will do it again in the next few weeks. I need to be more disciplined in my own terms – this time more seriously exercising. And as for tita Nieva, she continues to be a great health coach who has effectively guided me through. # (A recent photo of me at 117 lbs. after my detox regimen.)
