Alumni Bandastiks to Perform Saturday, Oct. 14 in NYC

New York City – After a hiatus of several years, Bandastiks was formed by LaSalle and Ateneo alumni associations in New York  to bring camaraderie from each school in a competitive but fun event through music.

“The 2017 Bandastiks will be the 5th music competition held in the Northeast in recent years,” said Archie, “We are very excited to offer it to the public again this year.”

De La Salle Alumni Association Metro New York and Ateneo Alumni Association Northeast will present this year’s Bandastiks at the famous rock venue, The Bitter End, located in Greenwich Village on Saturday, Oct. 14, 3-7PM.  Scheduled to perform are the Band of Brothers (LaSalle), IBK (Iskul Bluekul) for Ateneo, and the Reginas (Assumption).  All are established bands with top talents in their repertoire battling it for this year’s title.

“Ateneo and LaSalle have been known for its competitive rivalry back in the Philippines, not just in sports like basketball but in other areas as well. Even after we have graduated from our respective schools, it is really amazing the connection Ateneans and Lasallians here in New York,” said Archie Alvarez, LaSalle spokesperson, “We are so proud to be part of Bandastiks because it shows that both schools who are bitter rivals can collaborate together as one in showing their love and pride for their alma mater in a friendly competitive environment.”

The event is open to guests 21 years and older.  Tickets to Bandastiks are $25 per person and can be purchased thru bandastiks.eventbrite.com.  Sponsors for the 2017 Bandastiks include Ayala Land, A Vision of Self Psychological Services, and food provided by Mountain Province Restaurant.  A portion of the proceeds will go to Mano Amiga, a nonprofit based in the Philippines which provides education to underprivileged children.
