U.P. Naming Mahal: A Valentine Special

New York – The UP Alumni Association in America, Inc. (UPAAA) and the UP Alumni Association New Jersey Chapter, Inc. (UPAA NJ) are cosponsoring an evening of music, fellowship and fun.  Dubbed “U.P. Naming Mahal: A Valentine Special”, this virtual event will be held on Friday, February 12, 2021, at 8:00 to 9:30 o’clock pm EST on Zoom, and is dedicated to the University of the Philippines.

“U.P. Naming Mahal: A Valentine Special” is a fundraising event, with all ticket sales earmarked for U.P. scholarships.  UPAAA currently offers eight stipend scholarships to the U.P. Constituent Universities, and assists in administering five donor-funded scholarships. It also currently offers two one-time grants to UP Alumni who are embarking on or are already in the US for graduate and postgraduate studies.  In addition, there is a permanent endowment fund for stipend scholarships.

UPAA NJ will be resuming its scholarship program this year.

These financial grants are possible because of donations from generous alumni and other friends of U.P.

The alumni organizations are honored by the participation of U.P.’s very own Philippine National Artist for Music, Professor Ryan Cayabyab, along with the Ryan Cayabyab Singers, three of whom are UP alumni: Katherine Tiuseco, Poppert Bernadas and Nica Tulsa.

Other very talented U.P. alumni are sharing their music during the event:. Louanne Cuenco with Maestro Bobby Ramiro, Dr. Eric Macapinlac on guitar, Fr. JC Merino with Joseph Legaspi , Sounds of Manila with UP alumnae Dr. Suzanne Lansangan-Sabangan and Ma. Victoria Garcia-Villacorte, and Dr. Winston Umali on piano.

Tickets are $10 and are available on Eventbrite. The link is https://www.eventbrite.com/e/138663220425

Inquiries may be emailed to upaainamerica@gmail.com.

Please support this fundraising event.  All are welcome! (A Press Release from UPAA; Photo from Google)
