2018 JCI New York State Year-end Report
Throughout the year, the Junior Chamber International, JCI New York State organization has kept its pace with “Excelsior” and has truly seized the optimism of “Nothing is Impossible.”
Guided by the declarations on Nothing is Impossible, Excelsior, 2018 JCI New York State is proud of its key accomplishments for the year.
The declarations in its Plan of Actions included:
1. Nothing is impossible with achieving 5+ Chapter Extensions, Junior Jaycees, State – level growth.
2 Nothing is impossible with state chapters’ strengthening, monitored progress and activities with 90-100% Efficiency.
3. Nothing is impossible with institutionalized trainings: ACF, Better Leadership Webinars, JCI New York Training Institute, Robert’s Rules etc.
4. Nothing is impossible with Collaborations on Civic, Gov’t led-Campaigns, Community Engagement Partnerships, International Affairs.
5. Nothing is impossible with Social Media, Print Media Presence and Public Relations.
6. Nothing is impossible with Outstanding Brand Awareness Campaigns across the state, partnerships with other organizations for some advocacies.
7. Nothing is impossible with adopting State and National Projects.
8. Nothing is impossible with staging Outstanding Young New Yorkers (High School), Speak-Up and Write-Up Competitions, and The search for Outstanding New Yorkers (18-40 y.o.).
9. Nothing is impossible with Campus-based network, activities and collaborations.
- Nothing is impossible with doing Fundraising activities that will benefit the state and support its operational expenditures.
JCI New York is proud to achieve the following:
JCI New York State welcomed its newest chapters this year: JCI Manhattan, JCI Harlem (Pre-Launched) Extensions and JCI Philippine-New York Youth;
JCI New York State hosting of Global Partnership Summit Social in New York City with 2018 World President Marc Brian Lim and his Executive Committee, participated by more than 200 delegates and guests;
State Priority Project “JCI New York State Uplifts the Homeless NYers” via Community Activity in the Bronx with some 30 delegates from the JCI National Organizations of the JCI Global Summit in partnership with People Unique Services Inc and JCI Harlem Pre-Launched;
Peace is Possible Inter-Organizational Peace Day Rally with JCI Former Secretary General JCI Sen. Edson Kodama, with the JCI NYS Region South local chapters, and various community organizations in support of the JCI USA Peace is Possible Program lead by Manager Ashlea Elliott;
Nothing But Nets campaigns: Participation at The Drifters Live Concert NYC in support to NYS NBN Champion Council;
Attendance in the NBN Annual Leadership Summit, and the Congressional visits;
Attendance in the Leadership Training University, National Annual Meetings, and International Conferences;
NYS Conventions and Excellent Training Sessions and State Competitions (ID: Speak Up, Write Up and Debate Trainings and Competitions).
The State organization with its highly pro-active chapters is proud of the following membership engagements:
World President Marc Brian Lim Visitation and Local Presidents Chapters Meet Up; U.S. Chapter Development Neil Fitzgerald Visitation, including Youth Meet Up in the Bronx; NVP Nock Visit; Participation of local chapter members, officers and the State Officers at the Eastern Institute Convention, the JCI Amerada in Nazareth, NY; at the National and International events such as the Leadership Training University, Myrtle Beach National Convention, Annual Meeting in Denver, Conference of the Americas. JCI Ireland National Convention; Visitations from various international chapters from The Philippines, Hong Kong, France, Ireland, Sweden, Switzerland, Canada etc.; Community Engagements and Participation in local chapters activities i.e. World Clean-Up chapter projects; Ongoing 70+% Membership Retention rate.
Beyond the major focus of the team, the state organization also accomplished the following: Launching of new website and online administrative tools, Digital assets and Social Media; TOYA Submissions; CLC and Active Citizens Framework Sessions; By-Laws Drafts for Amendments by BOD; fund-raisings for NBN campaign and NYS Y/E Convention; Membership Recruitment Presidential Challenge “I Commit to FIVE; “P.E.O.P.L.E Excelsior (Interesting features on People, Events, Opportunities, Partnerships and Leadership/Membership engagement) on social media related to membership interest and benefit.
State President (SP) Stevenson with few members has had opportunities in supporting and participating In-chapter levels activities i.e. Induction Ceremonies, Halloween parties, General Membership Meetings, Elections, Membership Events/Gatherings, and Fund-raisings.
JCI branding was further enhanced by attendance of SP Stevenson to various community events like the Asian-American Vote Advocacy, Man-Up Campaign, and various events at the United Nations; from attendance to NASA launches in New York City, to attendance to Launching of Womensphere Innovation Lab & NASA Space Apps NYC; to meeting with some of the World Economic Forum’s Global Shapers and Young Global Leaders, Innovation and Media fora, Business and Leadership fora for Young Professionals etc. SP Stevenson was also the main feature on Fil-Am Who’s Who Magazine Dec 2018 issue with a circulation in the NY Tri-State areas.
