New York – Following media reports on PIDCI’s financial challenges and lack of transparency, Consul General Claro Cristobal today said that for PIDCI to remain viable, its patrons and sponsors must remain confident of the integrity of its management. In a press statement, Cristobal said he reiterates his predecessor Consul General Ma. Theresa De Vega’s emphasis on the organization’s transparency and accountability in terms of the Council’s operations and elections.
He wrote: “Ultimately, PIDCI is a community organization, primarily beholden to the member-organizations that compe it and to the Fil-Am community it purports to serve, in the same manner its officers and members have the fiduciary duty to safeguard its good name. Reforms as well as solutions raised in public, must come from within, not imposed from without This is the challenge to the officers and members of PIDCI…This is the Council’s responsibility and its burden.”
PIDCI will hold its elections on October 6, 2018 at the premises of the Philippine Center.
