Anti-Bullying in Workplace Bill Snowballs in New York

MoveOn Petition for the NYS Healthy Workplace Bill Gains Ground

New York City — Gregg Morris, a citizen advocate for the New York State Healthy Workplace Bill, has initiated a petition and is working with the online petition organization MoveOn to highlight the need for this important bill to address workplace bullying.

The petition found here – http://petitions.moveon.org/sign/make-nys-healthy-workplace?source=c.em.cp&r_by=7603820 –has met several milestone of 50 (now 230 going for 300) but MoveOn has requested more signees before they will expand the petition to other parts of the northeast and directly to members in New York State.

Morris is delivering the petition in person to Sheldon Silver, Speaker of the Assembly, on January 7, Wednesday, at 3 PM in 250 Broadway, Suite 2307 New York City.

A petitioner on Moveon.org said: “I am a survivor of workplace bullying, and have found that my mental and physical health have suffered. This bill is definitely long overdue. We deserve dignity in the workplace.”

Folks in the NYC tristate area who work in New York State but live in surrounding states will also benefit from passage of the bill. Residents in Connecticut, Pennsylvania and New Jersey but work in New York State, are encouraged to sign the petition and send it to others as well.

In Morris’s own words:

“I do volunteer work for New York Healthy Workplace Advocates – such as trek to Albany on lobbying missions and spread the word anyway I can. The petition is independent of them but it was started to support what they are doing and will be doing.

“I was on the ropes about two years ago, blinded by the College Administration that once wanted me to be chair of my department, and just as panic was mounting over threats to my tenure, I discovered NYHWA, which provides links and lots of information on its website and Facebook page – and that info helped me develop a strategy to get the administration to back off (at least for now).” (A Press Release from the Hunterword.com)

Mr. Gregg Morris, you and every other person involved in raising awareness, of this MUST be addressed, epidemic, are all a bunch of wonderful human beings. The time to be loud about this subject is now. When you deliver the petition, you are not only representing the Human Beings in your area, you are making a stand, for Humans across this Nation, and world.
Raising awareness about work place bullying also allows us to raise awareness about mental health issues, Anxiety/Depression, suicide/murder, Bi-Polar, the list is endless, yet all related. I recently read an article about Post Traumatic Embitterment disorder, which once again described me to a tee.
Keep up the great work, the support you have is far greater than any of us may realize at this point. Thank you
